After a great show at the wonderful Palmetto Bluff resort in Bluffton, the band is taking a break for the last remaining weeks of summer...getting in a little more beach time, getting the kids ready for school, and gearing up for a great Fall schedule....culminating in our 4th Annual Homecoming & Benefit at the Charleston Music Hall in December! Hope everyone has a safe and happy August, and we'll resume on 8/26 at the Wing Haven Gardens in Charlotte, to be followed in the Fall by shows in Columbia, Raleigh, Greenville, Rock Hill, Spartanburg, Bluffton, Charlotte, Florence, and Charleston...with more to be added soon! Dogs Return to the ATL on Friday July 29!

We are fired up for a summer show in Atlanta at a venue we've been wanting to play for some time...The Red Clay Music Foundry (formerly Red Clay Theatre), run and promoted by Eddie Owen Presents...of Eddie's Attic fame, of course. We'll be bringing with us some more South Carolina with us...our good friends and great band/singers/songwriters Finnegan Bell, now also based in Charleston. Don't miss them, and if you're in town that weekend, please make plans to join us and buy your tickets in advance, by clicking HERE. See you on the 29th in Duluth!

4th Annual Charleston Music Hall Show & Benefit TICKETS ON SALE NOW! Starting 6/30/16!

It's already that time again....for tickets to go on sale for our annual event we started back in 2013 with our 25th Anniversary....With the 2014 show, we brought in MUSC's Children's Hospital as a charity partner, and we have run our yearly "homecoming celebration" as a benefit for what is now the SHAWN JENKINS MUSC CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL CAMPAIGN....and also for pediatric cancer research--and as such, we'll be announcing our association with the PRESS ON FOUNDATION later this summer.

Our 4th Annual Homecoming and 28TH ANNIVERSARY Benefit will take place WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 28 AT THE CHARLESTON MUSIC HALL. Special guests will be announced beginning this summer and throughout the Fall.

AND the important thing for now is....the best tickets are going on sale this week! And as we have in years past, there is a VIP experience that can be purchased for this show as well, including a preview night on Tuesday, December 27, at the Music Farm in Charleston.

WHITE SQUIRREL FESTIVAL (Bobby & Hank duo)

Brevard, NC

http://whitesquirrelfestival.com/

About the White Squirrel Festival

Some people won’t believe it when you tell them white squirrels exist. We weren’t so sure ourselves until we saw our first one. A relative of the gray Eastern tree squirrel, white squirrels are thriving in Brevard, NC accounting for an all-time high of 40% of the Eastern tree squirrel population. This particular species of squirrel made its way to Brevard in 1949 as a result of a carnival wreck in central Florida and the town is gearing up for their 10th annual celebration of this unique wildlife population.

This nutty Memorial Day Weekend festival has a little bit for everyone. The 2014 festival kicks off Friday night with Love Canon followed by George Porter, Jr. and the Runnin’ Pardners in a free concert Throughout the weekend, bands like Scythian, the Jeff Sipe Trio, Shannon Whitworth, and many others are performing live and for FREE.

The family fun continues with a memorial parade organized by the American Legion on Saturday morning at 9 a.m., followed by a Presentation of the Wreath at the county courthouse War Memorial at 10 a.m.

Thrill-seekers will enjoy the 8th Annual Squirrel Box Derby in which creatively-designed derby karts race down Jailhouse Hill clocking in at 35mph or more. Races are open to kids 8-11 and 12-17, adults and businesses. Contestants compete for trophies awarded for the fastest critter and nuttiest design and the Golden Nut which is awarded to the local business with the best overall speed and design.

For those who are still skeptics, attendees will have a chance to meet Pisgah Pete, a rescued white squirrel, who will make his annual appearance at the festival. In addition, festival goers can learn more about how white squirrels live and what we can do to help rehabilitate wounded or rescued squirrels.

Additional events include the 6th Annual White Squirrel 5K/10K foot race, the White Squirrel Photo Contest, the White Squirrel Dance-off and street festival. This Memorial Day Weekend, there will be plenty of nutty fun for everyone in Brevard.

More information can be found by calling the festival organizer, Heart of Brevard at 828-884-3278

FRANCIS MARION INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL @ FMU PERFORMING ARTS CENTER (day)

Florence, SC

NEW LOCATION: FMU Performing Arts Center, Downtown Florence

Preparations for Francis Marion University’s Arts International festival in downtown Florence are underway. The longstanding festival, one of the Pee Dee’s great spring traditions, will bring its regular mix of art, music and food to its new location on April 11. The 38-year-old festival has been held in previous year on FMU’s campus. Activities will now center on FMU’s Performing Arts Center. The festival runs from noon to 6 p.m. There is no admission charge and all the entertainment is free and open to the public. There is a charge for food and craft items that are on sale. The premier event at this year’s festival will be a 2 p.m. performance by the Blue Dogs in the PAC’s amphitheatre. The “Dogs” are an earthy, Southern rock band from South Carolina, and a well-known favorite of Pee Dee music fans. FMU’s Music Industry Ensemble and the Celtic rock band Stirling Bridge are also slated to perform in the PAC amphitheatre. The FMU String Ensemble, Vocal Edition, pianist Paolo Gualdi, violinist Terris Roberts and pianist Sumire Worman are all scheduled to perform in the PAC Black Box. Other scheduled acts include the Jabali African Acrobats, the Chief Kamu Fire and Hula Show and the Chinese Acrobats. They will offer festivalgoers a unique perspective on arts from around the world on the festival’s International Stage. A variety of strolling musicians and performers will patrol the festival area, providing impromptu entertainment throughout the day. Other events will include Florence-Darlington Technical College’s famous welding sculpture competition. The competition will feature teams of experienced craftsmen who will create breathtaking pieces of art on the fly, using a pile of scrap material brought in for the occasion. Also on tap: an arts and crafts fair featuring the work of local and regional artisans, children’s activities, art displays in the Florence County Museum and Waters Building Annex, and an international food court. The City of Florence is joining FMU as a major festival participant for this year’s events. Other sponsors include FDTC; St. John’s Episcopal Church, which is providing space for festival parking and events; Honda of SC; Nan Ya Plastics; Florence County; Pepsi Cola of Florence; and the Florence Convention and Visitors Bureau. The festival is the union of two former festivals, Art’s Alive and the Pee Dee International Festival. Its roots date back to 1977. For more information on this year’s Arts International festival, go to http://www.fmarion.edu/news/artsinternational.
